Welcome to the Roads to Reading Literacy Initiative website. Our organization is comprised of three full time and two part-time staff people, which are all volunteer and an army of other volunteers. We have served schools and nonprofit organizations in the Continental United States since 2001. We have had the joy of placing over 970,000 new books into the hands of children and programming in underserved communities.
Book donations are made over an extended period of time. The non-discretionary program guidelines are listed on this website, notifications on the discretionary donations are sent out via twitter and email. So it is important to follow us on Twitter and join our list-serve. Donations are not open to individuals, for-profit organizations and organizations outsides of the continental United States.
Another added feature to the website is to provide information on literacy resources such as the most recent literacy studies and outside funding opportunities and much, much more. Don’t forget to check the website frequently so that you don’t miss out on book donations and literacy news and updates.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the following companies and individuals for the assistance they have given us to make the Roads to Reading Literacy Initiative what it is today. Our success has happened in part because of a very dedicated staff and the army of volunteers that assist us on a daily basis. We also want to recognize the role that our publishing partners have played in our success by donating hundreds of thousands of new children’s books that have been put into the hands of children that don’t have access to quality children’s reading materials.
